What can I expect during a lesson?
Our lessons are given on a one-on-one basis, just you and your instructor.  Upon your very first lesson, your instructor may chat with you a bit to get to know you a little bit better and get an idea of your musical background (if any), as well as your interests and goals.  As lessons progress you will have material that you'll continually work on - a method book, piece of sheet music, other particular song, etc.  - supplemented by other exercises to develop your technique and music reading skills.  You'll play a lot, but you also might spend some time verbally discussion or listening to music ideas.  You will work to polish your playing to a performance-ready standard, at which point you can perform a piece for friends and family at one of our student recitals!

What ages do you teach?
We enroll students as young as 5 years old, through adult.

Do I have to have previous music knowledge?
All abilities welcome, including complete beginners.

Do I have to have my own instrument?
Generally, yes.
We provide larger instruments (piano, drums) for you to use during your lesson time, but smaller instruments (guitar, winds) are not provided and in all cases you will need your own to practice on at home to make sure you are achieving the full benefits of your lesson instruction.

How long are the lessons?
Lessons generally take place once a week, and 30 minute sessions are a good starting point, especially for children and beginners.  Longer sessions (45 or 60 minutes) may be more appropriate for older or advanced students.  Your instructor will advise what they think is best, but ultimately it is your decision how long you'd like your lesson to be.

How long until I can expect to see real progress and results?
Most students leave even their very first lesson able to play a little song!  However, the focus and practice is the key - what you put into it is what you will get out of it.  The harder you work, the faster and further you'll progress!

How much do lessons cost?
Lessons are schedule and billed on a monthly basis, and prices are as follows:
30 min    $100/month     ($25/session)
45 min    $130/month      ($32.50/session)
60 min    $160/month     ($40/session)

Families enrolling more than one child receive a 10% discount.
